So now that I've gotten rid of my two-week gig in August, I feel a lot better and have started thinking about planning some sort of trip, provided that the current house-search and languid negotiation process actually picks up--the parents have been very hagglingly dragging their feet, but it looks like it might be okay because the market is small enough and few people are operating in cash quite as much. Still, the move to Sunnyside is still a little far off.

So I have been neglectful, but busy in many things--this class I've been teaching has finally ended, at least my component, and so I can relax a little, and even get up in the morning earlier than 7 am without feeling horribly guilty and irresponsible.

So although I've now taught four classes' worth of this grad course, due to my lack of a social security card, I'm still not on the payroll... I've managed meanwhile to book my entire summer, which will be lucrative, but..

Said class has been going well, with some ups and downs, but exactly what I'm tryin gto accomplish five years from now.

While my kendo has suffered, I have meanwhile taken up the dizi. The househunt has not made much progress at all, though there are now several prospects. So I'm swamped, but it's ok...

So it's been a whirlwind: Saturday I was offered a teaching job what begins tomorrow, so it's been a scramble to devise a syllabus and so on, while Saturday was a Jerseyan affair, with Rutgetsr and Princeton, but still home in time for practice after a drive down with Lotte from quiet Columbia. Sunday I went to an open-house before practice and wanted to amke an offer, but deciding to take this job has pushed everything off to the sside, including the two consecutive days of taping my classes--six tapes' worth of footage--I am really gay.

So after Alric's birtday festivities, I ended up at Yucky story Rye Shoe with Rob Chin. There was a horrible legalistic dispute: despite a low $7 per cap min the party of 4 didn't somehow even after all the carding and such want to pay for everyone, so there was some protracted discussion about how said percapmin doesn't apply at the bar, and so with a transplant of the two nonconsumptive parties, the minimum could be minimized, rather than, but this was unacceptable to management, despite the arguments about positions, the proferring of doing anything requested of them, moving outside for even less of a minimum, rather than at a table designed for six, and so on and on, until at last the order was canceled and the group of waiguoren left all together...

I must say, though, that the food there has somehow gotten better in terms of quality, variety, and savoriness. Balsamic duck, spicy tuna, and unagi-tofu were all top-notch.
